  7. Mermaid Park
    Beth Mayall

Mermaid Park is the story of a teenage girl discovering something she loves in a world she hates. Amy wants more than anything else time away from her annoying step-dad, mom, and sister. Getting a trip to New Jersey during the summer is a great way to do that. Meeting new friends, finding something she loves, and finally fitting in is feeling great for her. When everything takes a turn for the worse she discovers some astonishing history and learns things she never dreamt of.
This is a great book. It's fun to read and very interesting the storyline is great. I would recommend it to girls who just want an entertaining story to read.

  8. Skinny
    Ibi Kaslik

This book is about a young woman battling anorexia. Having a voice in her head makes it seem like she is doing the right thing. Her father has passed away, and her younger sister can see his ghost. She starts to heal only to get worse then ever. Struggling to discover her parents murky past, while trying to have a boyfriend makes her life super complicated. In the end it takes a surprising turn.
The book Skinny is for people who like to learn about real situations. While some of it is far fetched it has a very good story line and you never know whats going to happen next. It was a difficult book to read and very confusing. It is a good book though.

  9. The Crow
    Alison Croggon

The Crow is the third book in the Pellinor series. It takes place long ago in a fictional land. Young Hem has to learn fast and travel with his friend Saliman while constantly wrrying for his older sister Maerad. He watches as one of his only homes is destroyed, as friends are killed, and as the "Darkness" comes. Doing daring tasks in an effort to save the good in the world Hem struggles to hold himself together.
I love this book and the series. It is very long and at some points boring, but for anyone who enjoys fictional adventure this is a good book.

This book is about a girl who is forced to enter a beauty contest for overweight girls. Celeste hates it a lot and decides that to get out of it she is going to lose so much weight she can't compete. While competing Celeste learns new looks, and becomes more comfortable with her self.
This book is good for girls looking for a entertaining read about something that people really struggle with.

  13. Life As We Knew It
    The Dead & the Gone
    Susan Beth Pfeffer

This book is about an asteroid hitting the moon. The moon is knocked closer to Earth this affects the gravitational pull, which affects tides and volanoes. There are worl wide floods completely covering a lot of islands. Just when people thought that it couldn't become any worse volcanoes all over starting erruptting, and they are giving off ash which covers the skies, blocking off light.
In 'the Dead & the Gone' 17 year old Alex is left alone in New York City to take care of his two youngers siters.
In 'Life As We Knew It' Miranda and her family are trying to survive as food runs short friends are dying, and more

I reccomend these books to anyone who likes to read about science fiction and can handle more depressing things. They are both very good books.

  14. The Fire Eternal
    Chris d'Lacey

This is the fourth book in a series about a family who makes clay dragons. SOme of these dragons come to life and others don't. In this book the main characters are looking for a friend who has been "dead" for a long time. They need to fight the Fain to get to him. In the end it turns out in a way no one expected.

I suggest this to anyone who likes fantasy, but only if you have read all the other books.

  15. The Uglies
    By Scott Westerfeld

This book is about a young girl named Tally who lives in a brainwashed world. She wants to become Pretty but can't because of her new friend Shay. After playing some harmless pranks like all other Uglies Shay leave. Special Circumstances track Tally down and tell her that if she doesn't find Shay she will never be Pretty.
It incorporates love, adventure, loss, mystery, and friendship. In the end it isn't what anyone expects. This book is for anyone who likes love, adventure, mystery, and suspense. It is the first in the series so expect to want to read more.

  16. Wicked
    Gegory Maguire

Wicked is about the wicked witch of the West that everyone knows from Dorothy. Her name is Elphaba and she had a mother, a father, and a sister. The only difference was she was green and seemed older then her age. She never played and was found doing strange things as a toddler. The book tells the tale of her life. From before she was born to where I am in the book now.
I would not suggest this book to anyone who isn't an avid reader with a lot of patience. It's hard to read and sometimes boring.
